The football cake

Gourmands and football fans will be at the party with this recipe from Anne-Sophie, Best Pastry M6. To share with family and friends in front of a match!


  • 1 recipe cake (here 27x37x7,5 cm)
  • 1 rack or cake plate
  • 400 g icing (chocolate or vanilla)
  • plastic soccer deco (goals + characters)
  • 1 kg of green sugar paste

Royal icing

  • 1 egg white
  • 300 g icing sugar

Unmould your cake (you can assemble several cakes if you do not have a large pan).

Flip it over and trim the base with a large serrated knife. Turn it over on a cake plate larger than the cake.

Cover the cake with a thin layer of frosting and reserve in the refrigerator.

Meanwhile, prepare the royal icing:

In the bowl of the food processor or in a bowl with an electric mixer, pour the egg whites and the icing sugar and beat at slow speed for 2-3 minutes then at medium speed for 5-6 minutes until smooth. that the mixture is shiny and firm and that peaks are formed when you take a spoon of mixture. Transfer 3 tablespoons of royal icing into a bag with a smooth fine no. 3 or 4 socket.

Work the green sugar dough for a few moments to make it more supple. Lower it in a rectangle on a surface lightly sprinkled with icing sugar using a very large roll. The sugar cube rectangle should be large enough to cover the cake and sides of the cake.

Slip your forearms hand flat under the sugar dough and drop it on the cake. Smooth well so that the sugar paste adheres well to the frosting and cut the excess dough with a knife.

Draw the lines of the football field with the royal icing bag and then lay out the goals and the players on the cake.
